SUMIFS based on date range

Hi,

I have an excel formula that I cannot get to work for love nor money. I am trying to SUM a number, depending on whether a date falls within a certain range? I am using the following:

=SUMIFS($E$6,M5,">="&$F$6,M5,"=<"&$G$6)

Where:
E6 = £50,000
M5 = Jul-18
F6 = Jan-18
G6 = Dec-18

Where am I going wrong?

Trying reversing the less than and equal signs: instead of =<, type <=. Not sure why, but it works for me.

Sorry, don't reverse them but rather switch their positions.

great that worked! I tried all sorts of ways but it worked like this:

=SUMIFS($E9,L$8,">="&$F9,L$8,"<="&$G9)
