sumif - to identify duplicate values and a value +/- 10%

Hi,

i am trying to use a sumif formula to identify where a customer name (column A) is a duplicate and the value in column AY is + or - 10% of the value in the duplicate line.

Is this possible using a sumif? If not would anyone be able to suggest a different solution?

I doubt I'll be answering this but...

1. You probably want to use COUNTIF rather than SUMIF. If SUMIF, what are you SUMming?

2. By IS + or - 10% of the duplicate you mean WITHIN + or - 10% of the duplicate don't you?

3. What happens if there is more than one duplicate, ie

A1 is JOE SMITH AY1 is 100
A2 is JOE SMITH AY2 is 105
A3 is JOE SMITH AY3 is 130

AY2 is within 10 % of AY1 but it is not within 10% or AY3 so what would your output be then?

Here's another example

A4 is FRED JONES AY4 is 100
A5 is FRED JONES AY5 is 103
A6 is FRED JONES AY6 is 106

All 3 rows are within 10% of each other so what would your output be then ?

Back to the drawing board, on reflection:

I am trying to use a Count If formula to identify where a customer name (column A) is a duplicate and the value in column B is within 10% of the same value (column b) in the duplicate line.

If this were the case the output would be a simple 'true' and if not then a 'false'.

It is possible that there would be multiple duplicates in column A but as long the B value is within 10% of one duplicate i would like it to be flagged.
