I want to count the number of cells that have a shaded color lets say yellow. Can I do this without VB? If so how? I remember once defining the color as a number somewhere but forget how I did that. any help would be great.
thanks

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
Let's say your range is A2:A100 and various cells in that range are colored yellow. You can filter the range by cell color and use the formula =SUBTOTAL(9,A2:A100). This will sum up only the visible cells.
