How can I get the sum of cells, with a given colour.

E.g.
When in the same column green, yellow and red cells are specified.
And evenry cell has a different value.
Wich formula can I use to get the sum of all green cells, all yellow cells and all red cells?

Thanks for your replies.

Greetings Patje

Excel Facts

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
What is the criteria for the green, yellow, and red designations? If there is one, build a formula for those conditions.

If there is no set criteria, and the cells are manually colored, it will take VBA.

Please clarify.

There is an overview available with cells in a column, containing different values.
At the bottom of this list a cell is available to give the sum of cells with a specific colour.

If I given the cells, to be summerized, a yellow colour the sum has to be the result of these yellow coloured cells. This by making the SUM cell a yellow colour.
If another range of cells are given a green colour, and I given the SUM cell a green colour, the result shout be the sum of all green cells.

Yes, I understand, but what is the reasoning behind a cell having a different color? Why would a cell be green instead of yellow? How are they colored, manually or by conditional formatting?

There is a list with different options for different groups. Every group has his own colour and can choose from the same list. By giving a cell manually the group colour, the total gives the result for the specific group.
