SumIf a Date is >

I want to sum the value in column Z5:Z15 if the value in column A5:A15 (which are dates) is less than the value I have in Cell A1 which is also a date.

I cant get to where I can get this to work. Can I use a SumIf which dates being greater than or less than?

Yes. But the dates in column A must be numeric. Confirm with formulas of the form =ISNUMBER(A1).

If all are numeric dates, the following should work:

=SUMIF(A5:A15, "<" & A1, Z5:Z15)
or
=SUMIFS(Z5:Z15, A5:A15, "<" & A1)

=SUMIF(A5:A15,"<"&A1,Z5:Z15)

will sum all of the values in the Z5:Z15 range if the dates in the A5:A15 range is samller than the date in A1.

Thanks, I was putting the ampersand inside the quotes. I appreciate the help.
