Sum of text and number in same column

Hi,

Can this be done?

The total of all entries in a column that include the same text but different numbers.

I have a column which contains the following entries:

dr1
win 3
dr10
dr3

dr4

dr6
win6
dr7
dr22
dr16
win1
dr2
dr2

dr1
win7

ie
count the number of entries which include dr . (in this example, answer is 11)

Well!! , I tried all sorts! - I know that works for filenames. Never thought to try it in a formula
