Hello,

I currenly have an access database which holds about 60 queries and is about 1.8 GB. The main problem I am having is the slower response times while running queries. I try to compact/repair the database frequently but the size does not change nor the peformance. Therefore, I was thinking about migrating to SQL server, I heard it can significantly speed up query completion times as well as result in reduced disk space. I would appreciate if anyone can provide some suggestions on this topic or any other options that can increase the performance of Access.

Thanks.

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
Having the tables indexed properly can speed things up.
Have you tried Tools>Anaylze>Performace for tips?
