Does anyone have suggestions on cool things to try in Excel, I'm a bit bored and need to learn new stuff (especially VBA).

I keep searching the new posts and can't find anything new and exciting or questions that people are asking are beyond my expertise.

Excel Facts

Pivot Table Drill Down
Double-click any number in a pivot table to create a new report showing all detail rows that make up that number
lol - you must be really bored!

I am the same way and tonight I thought, why don't I go help people :) I am not a VB person but can help on certain things.

If your into charts, you can make some pretty complex charts that update automatically, expanding charts, Offsets etc.. I found that pretty neat.

When I get bored I start something new, like interfacing Excel with Access and Share point. Then move onto Share point formulas in List's etc... I am pretty good at the office suite and how it can connect to one another and databases.

Thanks PCRIDE,

I am so bored today that I started looking up scripts with activecells and found stuff like dirty cells and navigatearrow.
Unfortunately I'm not really into charts and have no need for Access in my job so you start playing around with them and just give up.

I love Vb scripts, even looked at the pranks thread on this site with swapping keys etc... thought about sending a file to my wife which turns her speakers onto full volume and then says "I'm looking at ****" so all her workmates could have a laugh, unfortunately she said that she didn't have speakers at work.

Thanks for replying, you have killed 10 minutes for me, fortunately I can go home in 40 minutes or so.

ADO & recordsets. SQL

Interacting with other applications - the ones that interest you.

What about (the book) "Professional Excel Development" by Bullen, Bovey & Green?

What about programming a game in Excel? Like Su Doku or a Japanese puzzle?
I know it has been done before but it will keep you busy for some time :-)

If you check out the web sites of Excel MVP's, you're sure to spend much time reading and trying out new things.
Even more you will learn a lot. For instance, Chip Pearson's site.

Thanks for your help everyone, I have been on Chip's site on and off for the past 3 hours and have found some valuable scripts.
