Possible suggestion:

To make questions markable as complete/closed/happy with answer, just so you can distinguish which posts are still looking for an answer against those that have been successfully answered?

One reason for this is I find a lot less responses to queries once someone has originally replied - people are more eager to answer a questions with no responses than ones with 12 responses even if they are still searching for an answer!

Each poster has the ability to respond their own post(s) and change the title, or they can PM a Moderator to do it for them.

At this point that's about as good as it gets.

HTH,

Hi Ross

My personal position on this is that marking a thread "Solved" or some such is actually not a good thing: whilst an answer may have been provided to the satisfaction of the OP, it does not necessarily mean that that answer is the best or most appropriate given the circumstances. Marking it Solved may well mean that others don't read the post and possibly provide a better alternative.

However, I do take your point that it can act as an indicator (or not, if omitted) that the thread has reached a conclusion acceptable to the OP.

Appreciate the suggestion. Sounds great in theory, but unfortunately I don't think it would be too practical. We have hard enough time getting people to use good thread titles, I can't imagine we would have too much success trying to make them mark threads as solved.
