Windows 7 - Excel 2007.

I use this syntax in Cell E14: +E3-E5-E6-E7+E8-E10-E11-E12-E13

Data in Cells E3 to E13 contain only positive numbers and do not contain negative numbers. (Negative numbers, I mean

like -1457). Cell E9 is blank.

I request the necessary formula to be input in cell E14.

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
Presently OK. But Column cells in E further data may have to be added, say E14 to E28. Then with similar calculation as above in Column E29, the formula will be much longer. Is there any SUM formula available?

As Special-K said, why are some Added and some Subracted ?
With no visible Pattern showing which ones are which, then no there's no simple sum formula to do it.

Can't you just do this?

=A1-SUM(E3:E1000)

where column E are the numbers to be subtracted from cell A1 (rename the cell as required).
Then it won't matter how many cells in column E are filled in, just make sure the row number is enough to cover the range that may be filled in column E.

Thank you. In order to avoid complication and as suggested by you, I have shifted data from Row E so the only addition in E28 is kept away.
