Subtract 2 numbers from cell with text

I'm not sure if this is possible but I have a cell with the following:

Sample Ballot Pamphlets / 30.5 of 32 pages /

Is it possible to make a formula that says, look for the 2 numbers in the cell and subtract the 1st number from the second.

Result = 1.5

I know it's a long shot but figured it might be possible.

Just to point out... the UDF that I posted also works (I tested it on the file that the OP made available).

I've tried the 3 different methods, and each one works in a new worksheet but not my existing one.

Hi Julia

In your file you have the option "Transition formula evaluation" set. It's usually set by people transitioning from Lotus to Excel.

That explains why the solutions don't work in your file. Try unchecking the option and the solutions should work.
