I know you can add subtotals in pivot tables, but can you add subtotals in pivot charts?

Below is a small sample data. I would like a subtotal in chart for the Report Year.
Thank you.

Report filters: None
Legend Fields (Series): Type
Axis Fields (Categories): Report Year
Values: Sum of Values

Excel motto
Not everything I do at work revolves around Excel. Only the fun parts.
Basely, I would like a bar in the chart that shows
2014: 75
2015: 76

So maybe it is a grand total? Not subtotal?

If you are familiar enough with Pivot Tables, create the PivotTable that would chart what you need to Chart. Then with a cell in the PivotTable select, Click the PivotChart in the PivotTable Tools/Analyze ribbon

The Analyze tab does not show a subtotal option. Am I missing something?

kinda :stickouttounge:

Build a New Pivot Table:
Rows: Report Year
Values: Value (Sum of Value)

Select a Cell in the Pivot Table.
Press F11

Your Table with the "Type" detail isn't what you really want in your chart. Pivot Charts are tied to the layout and filter of the source Pivot Table, so the second PT is needed.

It's a shame that I need a second PT just for the subtotal.
Or I could trick the pivot chart by adding the subtotals to the source table.
