I made a line chart of the data in the mini-sheet below showing the correlation between CO2 levels and global temperatures. What is not shown in the mini-sheet is that the "2" in the CO2 in K4 is a subscript, which I can't seem to show here, either.

Here's what that cell really looks like:

It also does not appear in the chart legend below.

Is there any way to fix that?

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.
You have to use a subscript symbol for 2. There is a tutorial here:

Unless there is something about that video that I don't understand, I already did what it describes. As I showed above, the cell containing the label I want to use (K4) has CO2 with the "2" subscripted. And in case you don't believe I have it correctly selected in the chart, here it is:

Did I do that right? If so, why isn't it working?

I was able to get the second suggestion of using a Text Box to work after a lot of stupid screwing around with font size, alignment, margins, and lines that should not be necessary:

But that means it will not update if I change anything. And even to get it to post here correctly, I had to select both the chart and the text box because that %$$&^%$* text box is not part of the chart. GGGGrrrr.........

@JenniferMurphy - I believe that the version you are showing did not correctly follow the video instructions (@rlv01).
What makes me think that is that the ℉ came through in the XL2BB and the CO₂ did not. My guess is that using format changes the font while using insert symbol uses a Unicode character.
I did find that following the video, I did not get the Subset Box to appear until I changed the Character Code From box in the bottom left corner from ASCII to Unicode.
However to add the subscript 2 in the text above I used the same technique I used in an earlier thread and inserted it via the
<windows>+period (".") > Maths symbols > about half way down look for the fractions just before it since they are easier to spot.

Sample XL2BB

Wow, both of those techniques worked. Thank you.

I still do not see why it needs to be this obtuse!
