Why does Excel limit us to 65,536 rows? I blow that away all the time, and usually have to filter something out to get it on a sheet. It seems like Mr. Gates could get us 100,000 rows rather easily.

Is it more of a clipboard cache problem or what?

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
Its a memory issue (64K = 1,024 x 64 = 65,536). Remember when opened an entire workbook must reside in memory. If you need more that 65,536 rows you should be looking at a DBMS.
