Stupid "Feature" or bug?

Does anyone else have this annoying problem that only occasionally occurs and for no apparent reason?

Excel Facts

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.

No, I have never had it happen to me "for no reason".

Most of the time, when I see something like this, it is due to the Excel file either being converted over from other program (i.e. Lotus Notes), or coming from some other program or the Web.
