strike through appearing for stale values?

Hi,

I was running a macro on a new workbook and I happened to stop the calculation in order to check on the formulas in the cells.

I noticed that some cells had a strike-through formatting. When I clicked on the cell a green message appeared that said caution there are stale values some cells need to be recalculated. Or something to that effect.

When I hit F9 the strike-throughs disappeared. Is this a new feature in excel?

SO this is yet another automatic change that excel has foisted upon us.

All I ask is why they don't make these optional. Sure add the option but don't turn it on by default.

It's their way to making you aware of the new feature.

But some options like "optimize" are not optional. There is no way to turn them off. These changes hurt the software.

I thought the admins on this forum have a say in what features go into excel.

OK thanks for the info.

Microsoft had a development forum for C++ and I thought this was a similar platform.

Because the website is called "mrexcel". I wasn't sure if it was run by excel in some form.
