Store a cells previous value

Hello,

I have a spreadsheet populated with data and some pivot tables, this then feeds a widget on a dashboard with a total. My widget has the ability to calculate the % up down and change its background colour accordingly.

How can I retain the previous total of a pivot table in the spreadsheet as new data arrives? Essentially a way to take a value in a cell & store it in another cell for use with the widget.
