Hi. How do I get excel to not auto format my csv data to columns on import, without changing the *.csv extension to *.txt? I have tried to google an answer but did not find a solution. I would like all *.csv files to have to go through the "data to columns" wizard.
THank you in advance, Jenny

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
Hi,

You could record yourself importing a csv as Fixed Width and deleting the break lines (Double Click the Lines to Delete), you can then modify the VBA to import your csv's. Doing this will bring the data in as one column that can then be modified. Is this what you after?

Hi. That is not exactly what I am after. I want to be able to click on a *.csv file (with excel 2010) without excel doing anything to the file. In other words, I then manually need to go to "data to columns" and format my data. I know that this is possible as I have managed it before but now I have a new computer and excel 2010 is auto formatting. I cannot remember how I stopped excel from doing that.

How about on the Data tab, select "From Text" & import the file that way.
