I am trying to make a stacked bar chart showing the percentages of students scoring advanced, proficient, needs improvement, and failing for the past three years. That part was easy. Then I thought it would be more visually appealing and tell a better story if I showed the percentages below proficient (the state's cut off for acceptable) as a negative number. This gave an effective chart but the lables were now technically wrong. For example, you do not have negative 25% failing, you have 25% failing which is graphically below the proficient line and sort of acting like a negative number. I tried various efforts to trick excel into using lables that were postive while keeping the approriate numbers negative to make the stacked bar. My problem is that the x axis is now the same as the negatives and no longer shows the years. Any advice?
