SQL Server Code

All,

Don't know if I'm in the right "place" on the message board for this one.....

I have a sql view showing stock figures, if its above 5 i want a column in the table to show Y, if not N, its a simple If then else in excel but in SQL ive tried everything i can think of!

Any idea on the code I should be using????

I think
IIF([field name]>5,'Y','N')
should work in SQL.

Did you try using a Case statement?

eg.

DECLARE @Table TABLE (StockValue float)

INSERT INTO @Table
VALUES (1),(2),(3),(4),(5),(6),(7),(8)

SELECT StockValue
,    CASE WHEN StockValue > 5 THEN 'Y' ELSE 'N' END AS Indicator
FROM @Table T
