Office Version

The spin button (not ActiveX control) I added to my Excel file is not functioning properly. The down button will sometimes increase the linked cell's value and at other times it will properly decrease the value. I have been using spin buttons for many years and they have always functioned properly. I am using Microsoft 365 for Windows. Can someone help?

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
Welcome to the Board!

How is the Spin Control button configured?
It is linked to the correct cell?
Is the cell it is linked to and updating a hard-coded value, or a formula?
Is there any VBA affecting that cell?

Yes, the spin button is linked to the correct cell. I have a formula in a cell in one tab that refers to the spin button's linked cell value which resides in a separate tab. There is no VBA code in the file. I have used spin buttons in exactly this way for many years and they have always functioned properly.

Without seeing exactly have you have set this up, I really have no idea on why this would be, other than perhaps you have a corrupt workbook.
If you open a brand new workbook, and set it up exactly the same way, does it work there?
If it works correctly there, then you may have a corrupt workbook.

I created a new file and set up a spin button the exact same way and it worked for as many times as I clicked the spin button both up and down (numerous times). However, the spin button in the Excel file in question can work properly for a while before it begins to malfunction. If the file is corrupt what are my options?

There is a built-in repair functionality and there are 3rd party products, though I have never used either.
Here is an article that talks about different options.

Quite frankly, I would probably just recreate a new version of the workbook.

Thanks Joe4. Much appreciated.
