Dear Excel community

Is there a way to source the input for a certain formula from other cell values?

For example: cell A1 = "tab1"; cell A2 = A1; and cell A3 = Q1.

Instead of writing =sum('tab1'!A1:Q1), I am looking for a way to express the same formula referring to the values/text in cells A1, A2, and A3.

Thank you

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
You can use INDIRECT, as long as the source workbook will be open:

=sum(INDIRECT("'"&A1&"'!"&A2&":"&A3))
