Hello guys, my computer got infected with a virus (Malwarebytes shows synaptics.exe as infected virus) and lots of xlsx files turned into Macro xlsm files. It somehow run malicious code into my excel files and infected them. It shows RPC1 as author if this helps, and the size varies. For example one of my most important files is sized 685kb which shows that information might still be in there.

So any way to retreive the information, remove code without opening the file in excel etc etc?

Sorry guys im overwhealmed at this moment and any help will be gretly appreciated.

Import from Excel or Access

Each of these data sources can have more than one object to import. An Excel workbook can have multiple worksheets, Excel tables, or named ranges. An Access database can have multiple tables and queries.

  1. Select Data > Get Data > From File > From Folder. The Browse dialog box appears.
  2. Locate the folder containing the files you want to combine.
  3. A list of the files in the folder appears in the <Folder path> dialog box. Verify that all the files you want are listed.
  4. Select one of the commands at the bottom of the dialog box, for example Combine > Combine & Load. There are additional commands discussed in the section About all those commands.
  5. In the Combine Files dialog box:
    • In the Sample File box, select a file to use as sample data used to create the queries. You can either not select an object or select just one object. But, you can't select more than one.
    • If you have many objects, use the Search box to locate an object or the Display Options along with the Refresh button to filter the list.
    • Select or clear the Skip files with errors checkbox at the bottom of the dialog box.
  6. Select OK.
Result

Power Query automatically creates a query to consolidate the data from each file into a worksheet. The query steps and columns created depend on which command you choose.

Thanx man, maybe im getting closer. im now seeing more information based on those steps. If i click on the sample file, i can then see the tabs i had. But how do i load those tabs inside the workbook now?

If i load and place them inside the workbook as table, all i get is the names of the tabs i had inside a table and then there is a column where it says hidden and it is set on true, except for one tab where it is the one that shows if i open the excel file normally...

So could it be that the macro is hiding my tabs, and i can unhide those tables and load my data normally?

Difficult for me to provide any accurate answer as I don't really know what you are dealing with. It would really require having a copy of your workbook to
have something to "play" with.

I understand. Perhaps i can send you as a sample one of my least sensitive files, so you can see if you know hwats going on and then i can apply the possible solution on my main file. Can i upload it here somehow?

This forum doesn't have that ability. You'll need to upload to a cloud site and provide the link here.

My computer won't allow me to download the file. It is infected with a virus.

Guys it is supposed to be a virus, or a file containing mailicous macro or something ive already stated that. You can easily tell chrome to keep the file when downloading it, now how to handle it with care within excel i do not know....

What else can i do to provide the sample?
