Sorting the unsorted

All,

Good morning, obviously looking for a bit of help here so I will try and be descriptive as possible.

I have One Spreadsheet bringing in data from two different locations.

In each of the linked spreadsheets There is a unique number in both documents ( a Construction Drawing number containing 5 digits ).
I each of the spreadsheets that unique ID has more accompanying cells which describe the contents of that Drawing such as Roof Plan, First Floor Plan, Section A etc etc

Ultimately, what I need to do is compare both sets of data to make sure they contain exactly the same information on both lists, so I need to compare them somehow.

Pitfalls may be : The unique ID ( Drawing number ) in either of the documents may be erroneous such as XXXXX( text ) or indeed less than 5 Digits ( for those NOT of 5 digits in length, I can filter them out )

Another Pitfall there may be some different unique ID's on one Spreadsheet, but not the other, so I assume that when I link them together, I will need some sort of Sorting of the unsorted to create a new list, in which I can see them side by side.

Hopefully this makes sense to someone. To recap

Take Two Different lists with some of the same data in each of them
Bring it into a new Workbook to see the differences in each of those lists. ( I can apply conditional formatting at this point I guess )
Remain dynamic so that when I open ( or refresh ) the connected links, the data is updated.

I would rather avoid the use of VLOOKUP as my columns are in different areas of the individual worksheets, some to the left, some to the right etc.
Any help would be appreciated....

Regards

Colin...
