Dear all,

I have a question about solving a formula in Excel.
An equation is based on the following:
[a]x^2 + x + c = 0

The value for a, b and c are known.
Is it possible to, and if so how, let Excel solve the value for x???

use Excel's Goal Seek feature (found at Tools\Goal Seek). You may have to install an add-in if you don't already have it installed.

If memory serves me correctly, that is known as a quadratic equation, and has the following soultions

x = -b +/- SqRoot(b2 - 4ac)/2a
