Slow Typing Response from Bluetooth Scanner

We have about 20 Microsoft Surface Pro 8/9 tablets and on two of them the typing response from the scanner is extremely slow (1 character per second, rather than 1 cell per second). The scanner (Honeywell Ring Scanner 8670) basically reads a QR/barcode and first types the time into the first cell and a formatted UPC into the second cell. This is working perfectly on the other 18 devices, but all of a sudden this slow response issue is occurring on a couple of them (one is Pro 8, the other Pro 9).
The scanned UPC is being formatted through NDC Translate by RxScan, and we haven't had any issues up until now. We have repaired Microsoft 365 on the devices (didn't fix the issue) and then fully reinstalled Microsoft 365 (temporarily solves the problem but it comes back up).
Any ideas what I can do to fix or prevent this from occurring?

Here is a visual of the issue I am having. (Sorry for the poor quality, had to crop due to sensitive information)

I would check to see if there is an updated scanner driver available from the manufacturer.

I've looked into it, and the latest firmware for the device is from Feb 2019.. it is a bit of an outdated device for Honeywell. I've asked the user to test another scanner on their device to try to pinpoint exactly where the problem is occurring.

A couple more things to check...

- are any other USB devices performing slow on those two Surfaces? - Potential Windows USB port driver issue?
- You mentioned reinstalling O365 temporarily fixed it. Are the O365 versions the same on those to Surfaces as on the other 18 or did they take on some sort of update (or miss an update)?
- Potential of Window Defender to be interfering?
I would watch the performance on the task manager while scanning a bar code and see if any resources are maxing out...and if so, which ones.
