Dears,

We have a big excel file, 150MB in Excel Binary Format (XLSB), i had a big issue with the performance of the file,
operations on the file take a lot of time, we have some pivot charts for some graphical representation, but the main sheet we have,
is the big number of records, we have like thousands of records.

the system we are using:
DELL 3050 OPTIPLEX
Core i7 7th Gen 3.5GHz 8MB Cache
16GB DDR4 RAM
Windows 10 Pro
Microsoft Office 2013 64bit version

Can you please advice us, what i can do for improving the performance of the file, and reduce the time of performing some clucaltions

Many thanks for your kind and valuable advices

Excel Facts

Whats the difference between CONCAT and CONCATENATE?
The newer CONCAT function can reference a range of cells. =CONCATENATE(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5) becomes =CONCAT(A1:A5)
Turn off Automatic Calculations of the Sheet. Before Saving, manually calculate the sheet by pressing F9.

150MB for a zipped file is pretty big. Do you really need to store the data in the workbook?

Check for uneeded space being saved into the workbook

On each sheet, press CTRL+End and check the cell found IS the very last used row on the sheet.

If it's not, delete all the rows between this found last cell and your sheet's last used row and immediately save the workbook.

Repeat for rest of sheets - it may reduce the size of file but I'd question too size and data content needed (as per RoryA's remark).

sir (RoryA), we are NGO, we use excel as DB, our program team prepared that application and we have a lot of data, daily data collection,
i even distributed data based o n months to reduce the size to 40~50MB, but still the process of performingbasic sort needs a lot of time.
