Slicers connections -Query as a datasource-

I've created a query from two tables and created 2 Pivot Tables from said query. When I create slicers for each of the pivot tables using the same criteria (e.g. Region), I cannot connect the 2 slicers so that when I update one the other will be updated automatically.

I've read that for such connection to be possible, the data source has to be the same. I thought that being the data source the same query, this would allow me to connect slicers but it does not seem the case.

Please tell me if I'm missing something and, if in fact they cannot be connected since a query is not deemed to be the same data source, if there is a way to get around this.

Thanks.
