Sketching a chart by mouse

Hello,

I am creating an application to model probability distributions, and I had an idea to allow the user to SKETCH probability distributions intuitively by clicking and dragging the mouse to trace the curve in an embedded chart object or chart window. I need to be able to get an array of XY mouse coordinates along the traced curve at regular intervals along the x axis. Would anyone know how to do this?

This is a very exciting project for me, so I hope someone can help...

I found this link which converts a chart data series into a shape:

However I'm looking for the reverse method, to draw a shape and convert this into a chart data series...
