Hello everyone. I am trying to manipulate an excel document so that I can import it into a flashcard system. To that end, my cells have to fit a specific structure-- A= [word ;(semi-colon delimiter)] / B=[" definition "]. To be more concrete, I must have a word with a semi colon in one column and my definition enclosed in quotations in a second column.
I created a column with ", another column with [definition] and a final column with ". Then I merged all three columns using the & function in Excel and that all worked fine. For clarity purposes, lets call this new column FINAL. The problem is that entries in FINAL are dependent on the previous three columns containing ", [definition] and " respectively. Therefore, when I format my excel document so that I have only two columns: 1) word and 2) FINAL, proceeding to delete the rest of the columns, the !!ref!! error pops up. I suspect this is because the entries in FINAL are somehow linked to those in my previous three columns.
How can I manipulate FINAL so that the entries are unchanged even after deleting the three columns (", [definition], ") by which it was created.
I appreciate all the help and insights.
