Simple formula Cell Issue

If I want the contents of cell B3 to be put into cell A1, I type in cell A1; =B3
However it isn't doing that. I end up with =B3 typed in cell A1.
Any suggestions. Thanx

Hi,

Make sure cell formatting in A1 is General, Not Text, then re-enter your formula.
