Simple copy and append task

I'm a bit embarrassed to post this question but I'm sure there is a fairly straight forward solution to this problem. I'd like a formula solution, but if that's not possible, I can live with a VBA script.

I'm working with columns A and B, with data populated in B1 and downward. I'd like to copy cell B1 to A1, A2. Copy B2 to A3, A4 etc.

(if this doesn't complicate things too much, I'd like a conditional to ignore blank cells in B).

So you want data in B1 to appear twice, in A1 and A2?
Then B2 to appear in A3 and A4...and so on?

the simplest solution to this would be to copy the whole col and paste it in the col b then remove duplicates on in col B
