I have a data set that has a column called Update Date. The data in this column is stored as M/D/YYYY, but displayed as MM/DD/YY. I want to create some pivot tables that reflect month over month trending, but I don't want the pivot headers to reflect individual days. Instead, I want it to show MM/YY. For some reason, I can't seem to get another column to reflect this. I can get it to say something like Jul - 18, but I want to see 07/18. That way, as the months change, they stay in sequential order in the pivot table.

I can run a formula that display the data as I want, but it skews the pivot table; meaning each day is a table header.

Thought?

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
Set another column to view The date column with a custom format, mm/yy.
if pivot won't recognize the format and continue to use the Day,then use a formula to show mm/yy.

then pivot.
