I had the good fortune to get to talk to Tushar Mehta, Tom Urtis and Kevin Jones (from Experts Exchange) this week in Seattle. One of the things we discussed was the possibility of holding a local Bay Area Excel users group, maybe on a quarterly basis.
It would be a chance to get together and not only be able to ask some of those guys some direct questions, but also be a collaberative meeting where we could get some feedback about what current challenges you face with Excel in your environment. I like the idea of being able to catch up with local users in our neck of the woods on a personal basis, and it also presents you with an opportunity to give MS some feedback on what Excel users need.
I mentioned the idea to Tom Archer, our Microsoft MVP lead, and if there's a good response to the idea, then he'll see about the possibility of getting us a meeting room at the Silicon Valley Microsoft campus and maybe even getting some MS giveaways/stuff for attendees.
Otherwise we can just plan on meeting at a central location that's convenient for everone.
Lemme know what everyone thinks.
