Situation:

Aggregate queries. Rows are accounts, Each column represents up to 36 summary financial periods. There is no time dimension

Currently users have to change values every month - which can mess with formatting. Wondering of a way to dynamically show a particular period value in a column - using a slicer.

Using PowerPivot 11.00.300

Thoughts appreciated.

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
the formatting part shouldn't happen if you choose the presserve width/size of pivot table. Is there any way that you could somehow use a slicer of the financial periods? Let's say 2012Q1 or something among those lines.

Best!

If you can, refactor your model, so that the financial period be an attribute.
That is, one row per account AND fiscal period.
