I am trying to create a chart using the following table:

. A B C
.1 5 4
.2 3 3
.3 8 7

Formula used in cell B3 is:
=IF(SUM(B1:B2)=0,"",SUM(B1:B2))

When I create the chart; it returns showing a "zero" value from that cell. Cell B3 is not really "empty"; How can I make the chart to show it as "empty", even when there is a formula?

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.

I'm a bit confused by the question... B3 has a value of 8 so why would the chart show zero?

I think I might understand what you mean - have you tried this formula instead?
=IF(SUM(B1:B2)=0,NA(),SUM(B1:B2))
Hope that helps...

Thanks Colin... exactly.. that worked.. the problem with the original post was that when I saved it.. it did not keep the spaces... but B1 and B2 were empty cells; but B3 was the formula.. The NA() worked because Excel does not plot NA cells. thanks a lot,
