Sheet without grid lines

Hi
I have a computer and when I open excel file, sheet does not have grid lines. I went to View tab and Grid View box is checked. When I high light a group of cells using the mouse I barely see the grid lines in this highlighted area. What could be the issue?
I created boarder no problems but I want to see grid lines. Thanks a lot

there is a grid line color in options > advanced

maybe some one set the value during a book you loaded, but didn't reset on close
