Hi all not sure if anyone can help with this one but here goes..

So I have a macro - enabled workbook that I moved into a shared home network folder that is shared with my wife.

The network element works as it should with my wife being able to see the folder on her PC and open the workbook and use it normally but when she tries to save her changes she gets a prompt saying the workbook is read only. I have double checked all the permissions on it and everything is ticked to allow her to read and write ect.

Just in case it has some relevance on the workbook I have added a button called 'Exit and Save' that is coded to do just that and on my PC works fine but even when she tries to save it by selecting save from the menu the same problem occurs with it saying its read only.

Hopefully that makes some sense ! Anyone got any suggestions on what I can look at or do to resolve this?

Thank Paul

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
When you created the folder did you set any of the permissions for the folder. That could be a start point.

Hi Trevor thanks for the reply. Yep all permissions were set to 'Read / Write' for everyone. The only thing I did change was 2 reduce the number simultaneous users from 20 down to 3.

Have a look through this thread to see if it helps.

Thanks for the link to the thread but sadly not really helpful for me.

The workbook has been created by me from new and is not referencing or 'linked' to any other workbooks. I'll see what happens if I simply copy it to the other PC directly and take the network share out of the equation. I'm think that way I can sort of narrow down what is causing the issue.

Thankfully this workbook is still in the 'testing phase' and I have backups.

Just an update copied the workbook to the PC directly and made some changes. It saved with no problems so it appears that it must be something to do with it being shared on the network.

I will re-do the network share from scratch just in case the original one had any 'glitches'

Hope that resolves the issue. Thanks for dropping a note.
