We have an Excel file that 20+ Users update daily. Every time we share the workbook, it corrupts the file within days.

We are using Excel 2010. We go to Review tab, Share Workbook, and check the Allow Changes box.

Suggestions/Feedback is appreciated.

Excel Facts

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying

Something similar happened last month and was related to some users with Windows 7 and others with a different version. In order to fix the problem, it was necessary to un-install security update KB 255073, then rebuild network paths.

Before doing anything, you may wish to search for a hotfix. In our particular case, the problem related to network paths that were 'expanded' within each cell that referenced other workbooks on our network. ie: =companyserver.filename.whatever changed to =companyserver.companyserver.filename.whatever

Start by looking at cell formulas that reference other closed workbooks on your network.

best of luck, it was not fun.
