Hey guys

We have recently switched to sharepoint online on the job. This has really messed up some of my excel work.

I have especially two files which are now corrupted.

One is the input file, and the other one is the data file which contains all data. The input file has VBA which opens the data-file and inputs all the data from a userform. Pretty nifty, when we have many people working on the file at the same time.

The problem is that now my links are broken, and i can't seem to find the right path to direct to.

If i "share" the data file it looks like this: https://XXX.sharepoint.com/:x:/r/sites/proj_XXX/Delte dokumenter/TEST/TEST.xlsm?d=XXX (all the XXX for security purposes).

If i open the link in a browser, Excel online opens. So it seems i need to convert the link to the actual file.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Best regards from Denmark :)

Excel Facts

Quick Sum
Select a range of cells. The total appears in bottom right of Excel screen. Right-click total to add Max, Min, Count, Average.
If you open both files in Excel desktop you should be able to get their path from the .Path property.

Okay, I have now dug into the whole sharepoint online thing.

And I didn't even realise that I can probably just alter the data file, so that multiple people can edit the file at the same time.

Is there any suggestions on doing some sort of easy input in excel online? I would like to leave as much information on drop downs, because we have seen really lackluster data quality in the past.

Data Validation should work. ActiveX controls and form controls don't.

Yes I can see that now. The problem was I just transferred the xlsm files to sharepoint, where the excel online opens as protected. I need to save it without macro enabled (xlsx) to get it without protection.

Indeed, no VBA in Excel on-line. But you can set a Sharepoint library to have people open the files in Excel desktop if I recall correctly.
