A question has been posed to me that is a little beyond my scope of familiarity. A coworker was wondering if it would be possible to have a sort of constantly-update-add-in for all the networked computers in the office, so that all of the users could have access to his macros, and wouldn't have to (re)install an add in every time he wrote a new macro or function.
I told him no, I didn't think that was possible, but it got me thinking: what about Personal.xlsb? Is it possible to change the target location of the Personal.xlsb workbook? If it is, would it be possible to put Personal.xlsb on a network drive, have the networked computers reference it, and then whenever he wanted to update macros, he could just edit the Personal.xlsb file that everyone's already linked to anyway. All they'd have to do would be load Excel, and Excel would theoretically 'know about' any updating he'd done/new macros he'd written/etc.
Is this possible? If it is, how?
