Hey Excel Gurus,

I want to shade a row based on the value in column I.

There are sequences of values in column I.
for example

column I
5D
5D
5D
8X
8X
2M
9M

So Rows 1 to 3 meaning 5D should be no color, 4 to 5 meaning 8X should be the chosen color from formatting. 2M no color. 9M same chosen color from formatting.

Will appreciate y'all

Thank you.

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
I would make a helper column. This assumes that you have header rows that have text in them. After you put this formula into the helper column, you could use the values from that column to conditionally format column I.

In J2:
Code:
=IF(ISTEXT(J1),FALSE,IF(I2<>I1,NOT(J1),J1))
, then copied down.
