setfocus command

I am using set focus command in vba to give the focus to a field named Complete

[complete].setfocus

when the field has focus I the run code to refresh the form from the properties box - ongotfocus, however the refresh only works if i tab onto the field not via the routine listed above. Any ideas what i am doing wrong.

Maybe you could force the issue using code?:

Me.complete.setfocus
Me.Refresh
