Sequential Numbering in Rows Dependant on Other Inputs

I'm having a massive problem getting an auto filling sequential number down a list of rows (column A). If one box has a value greater than 0 (column G)then I want to input a number (starting at 1). If one or several rows don't have this input I need that cell left blank, but need to keep the sequence of numbers going when that input has been made. Any ideas how to do this?
