Hi
if I have date like 13/1/2001, I know i can use day(), month() and year() to separate day, year and month. I also know I can use text to columns. Which method has advantage/disadvantage over other. Thank you so much.

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
Hi,

You should check if you have a Date or Text ...

With a Date, you should be using the first method ... and with Text ... you should pick the second one ...

Hope this wiil help

Thanks for your reply. I have date (date format)

1/1/2001

I used day, month, year functions and I got 1 , 1 , 2001 - three cells and in general format

then I used text to columns and I got 1, 1, 2001 - three cells in general format.. so I do not see any difference? Thank you so much
