selection object in vba

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
this might be what you want.
Code:
Sub t()
MsgBox TypeName(Selection.Value)
End Sub

I think you want TypeName(Selection), which would return "Range", "Chart", "Textbox", ...

Just some clarification. If you use the TypeName function with the Selection keyword only, it will return the data type for the selected object. To get the data type for the content of a selected cell, you have to use the .value property.
