Seeking simple way to sort and reorder rows

I frequently use Excel to make priority lists, or checklists:

Priority
Item
Description

1
Make a list

3
Check it twice

2
Don't pout

Is there a simple way to reorder the list? Of course I can type in new numbers and hit data->sort, but that often involves renumbering a lot of rows. Is there a way to build such a list with drag & drop, or little arrows to bubble an item up one row or down a row?

I use Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, OpenOffice and ThinkFree office at various times. A solution that works for all of them would be best. Thanks.

USing the example you've given, have you thought of cutting the 2nd and third column and inserting cut cells? I don't use google docs or think free, so I'm not sure if this will work on them.
