Search count of multiple values

Hi,

I need to know how many values in a column match my criteria:

I need a formula that will go through column b and count how many times the following values occured consecutively.

For the first part, here are two approaches. The first approach is relatively simple, but the more criteria that you have the more conditions that you'll need to add, and you'll have to use different size ranges that you would need to manually adjust depending on the number of criteria that you have. However, in your previous post, you indicated that you could have as many as 4 criteria. If you have more, then you'd have to spend the time manually adjusting the ranges, accordingly, and the formula could get cumbersome. The second approach is very complex. However, there would be no need to adjust the sizes of the necessary ranges. But, it does use volatile functions, which could slow down the calculations for your worksheet. So let's assume that we have the following data...

...and so on. As you can see, the more criteria that you have, the more conditions that you'll need to add, and you'll need to adjust the sizes for the ranges, accordingly.

instead of making helper columns and rows, i would like the formula to search in one column but 8500 rows example a4:a8500

...confirmed with CONTROL+SHIFT+ENTER, and where D2, E2, and F2 contain the criteria. Note that the formula will need to be amended if the number of criteria changes.
