Hi,

Given Data
I have an access database with 30 tables, sequencing from TableNameA,TableNameB, ...... TableNameZ....TableName1.....TableName4, with Columns A (having one field), and column B (hyeprlinked Text) in each Table.

Requirement

I need to have a userform in excel (as front end) with textbox as a search field for the entire Tables and column A, column B. When the text is entered in the textboox then list box on the userform must get the values and its related searches, like applicable for wild card characters also.

Any suggestion or help shall be appreciated in this regard.

Anticipatory Thanks!

Thanks Norie! I could understand, that a linking can be done of the word and URL in Access database.

Now my worry is, can a field of MS access database contain 1.4Mn words (if no different table is to be made, perhaps this makes a search time consuming with several tables, as earlier stated)? or some other way around to make our 1.4Mn words to fit in the one field simultaneously linking the URLs. And if it is to be linked and to be retrieved in the MS Excel Userform then how we shall make it happen?

I hope, my points of making the front-end as MS excel were well taken, due to my lack of experience, and considering the work which has been done or in the pipeline with MS excel.

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
Pretty sure Access could handle that amount of data.

If I had that I probably wouldn't consider using Excel.

You really need to think about using one table, especially, if I recall correctly, all the worksheets have the same layout.

Still not sure entirely what you mean about Access and forms.

How are they more user-friendly in Excel?

Plus a lot of what you want to do, eg search for words, would have to be coded if done in Excel.

That sort of thing can usually be done in Access without code.

If you do need code then it would be minimal.

Thanks! could you please guide a little further as i do not have any prior experience of MS access.

I have the same layout of Sheets, which is to be exported to MS Access fr creation of Database, and this operation is to be done further for searching the Words with this through Forms of MS access.

Probably this shall be an addition to know the working in MS access.

I am using Microsoft Access and Excel 2010, for your reference please.

Thanks!

The first thing I suggest you do is import the data into Access.

You can do that by going to the External Data tab and selecting the Excel icon.

That should give you a wizard you can follow.

Once you've done that you should get all the data into one table.

For that you don't need to delete the existing tables (yet).

You would probably need to create a new table though.

Yes, i have done a trial and was successful in transporting the database, but with different data. For rest of the exercise, i shall be in touch after 2.5 hrs as i am going back to my place. Sorry for getting interrupted in between.

Thanks!

Yes Norie, your suggestions started giving results, i have added webcontrol to the MS access form and linked it to the url which has taken out from the MS access database. The relationship of url with word was established before in the database.

Now i need to start giving some additional features, and the 1st i am looking for, how can
i adjust the size of webcontrol, so that a particular webtable of the webpage is shown in the Webcontrol view. I tried looking into the properties of webcontrol, but unable to get anything relevant which could suffice the above purpose.

May i look for the help on this.

Thanks!

Are you sure you are using the right applications for this?

Thanks Norie!,Yes, Microsoft Access has started giving instant results, and are quite friendly. But looking for the re-designing of web control on MS access form as discussed above.

Thankyou!

Sorry, perhaps I didn't put that quite right.

What I meant was, are you sure Access or Excel is the right tool for this?

You seem to want to do something where the web is heavily involved, perhaps you should look at something a bit more web-based.

Yes, i think you shouldn't say sorry, atleast to me, who is learning right from the scratch under your guidance and confidence.

Yes, here the web is involved and also the size of the database for merely 32k words +32k words URLs has come to 5.8Mb in size, what would be its size when it reaches to 1.4Mn words + 1.4Mn URLs.

How it shall be web based, this is again something new to learn.

Thanks for making my neurons to struggle for innovation at my level!
