Dear friends

In order to save more energy GOOGLE has launched its duplicate search engine, "www.blackle.com". Kindly use this as it saves around 750 Megawatts/hr. Please explore your knowledge alongwith saving some energy :)

Go Green People...cheers !!

Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
Erm... Blackle isn't actually a Google thing (although it does use their engine), and if you're using an LCD monitor, it doesn't make any energy savings. Sorry.

Sorry ??? :eeek:

Sorry for what ?

my friend, it does not make a difference if energy is not saved on LCD monitors...but we have millions of people in India itself (forget the world) who are not using an LCD monitor..at least they are saving on it. If Blackle isnt a google thing then who cares ? let it be as it is...atleast the site is saving a form of resource and that is a great thing !

If you cannot encourage people around you to save a form of resource, atleast, do not deject it.

Not saying the "blackle" thing is useless. Every little bit does help and it is, in theory, very easy to implement. By extension, are you willing to set your overall windows color scheme to an energy saving scheme? Ever try that on a notebook? I would when I really needed to conserve battery, but it's not a color scheme I would choose for all-day every-day viewing.

As cornflakegirl points out, with an LCD display the impact is neglible. However the impact of swapping a CRT for an LCD is much greater than using "Blackle" for searches.

A bit old - but you can see that Japan estimated that by 2003 replacing CRT w/ LCD's was saving 3 billion kWh.

well said, Mr. Greg.

We ain't forcing someone to use CRT monitors, nevertheless -by extension, whatever power ( or any other form of resource) we are able to save is going to be useful only for our children, correct ?
